Laura Beth York moved to Arkansas when she was 10 years old. She grew up in Conway, Arkansas and was fortunate enough to attend Hendrix College in her hometown. She stayed in Arkansas and obtained her law degree from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock School of Law. Following graduation, she took a chance and moved to South Carolina with her husband, where she worked as an attorney at Legal Aid for almost two years before the opportunity arose for she and her husband to move back to Arkansas. Laura Beth knew that she wanted to practice in the area of workers’ compensation when her father was injured at work. It was a career ending injury, and it was her first year of law school. It was a life changing moment for her and her family. When she moved back to Arkansas, she immediately went to work at the Arkansas Workers’ Compensation Commission, writing opinions at the Full Commission.
