One-car accident south of Gandy Boulevard has claimed the life of a 77-year-old St. Petersburg man. At 3:15 p.m. Wednesday, the Florida Highway Patrol reported that a vehicle had crashed. During a southbound journey on Interstate 275, a van driver lost control and hit two concrete light poles and a traffic sign, before overturning. The driver was not wearing a seatbelt and was thrown out of the van. The victim died at the scene.
