A crash is currently under investigation in the 17000 block of US Highway 19 in Largo. In the early evening of May 24, 2021, the crash occurred at approximately 6:33 pm. Largo police say a reckless motorcyclist was traveling at high speeds when he lost control and crashed into a southbound SUV, throwing him from the Honda motorcycle. The operator was rushed to Bayfront Health St. Petersburg with serious injuries to his head. Currently, he is listed in critical condition. An investigation was conducted by the Traffic Homicide Investigators of the Largo Police Department. Highway 19 was closed for three hours, but reopened by 9:45 p.m.
Police say a woman died after losing control of her vehicle and crashing into a wall of an apartment building in St. Petersburg. Cynthia Rae Lauber, 66, was traveling north on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. street North in a 1997 Toyota SUV. It was reported that she lost control of her vehicle, but the agency failed to provide a reason for the incident. At the Jamestown Apartments in the 8400 blocks of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. street, the vehicle struck the above-ground water main before crashing into a wall.
One person was taken to the hospital following a crash in Clearwater's parking lot. A crash after 11 a.m., Tuesday, occurred near U.S. 19 and Drew Street, according to officials with the department. An Audi driver lost control and collided with a white pickup truck parked nearby. The truck was lifted on top of the Audi by the impact. A Geek Squad van was also struck as the two vehicles collided. The driver of the Audi was transported to a local hospital to receive treatment for minor injuries. Investigators are still working to determine what caused the crash.

A single-vehicle accident near the 129-mile mark on Interstate 10 injured two people from Dunedin, Florida. A pickup truck driver, 67, and his passenger, 66, suffered serious injuries in the collision. An ambulance transported both to Southeast Medical Center in Dothan. During travel on Interstate 10, the truck was forced onto the north shoulder after the driver suffered a medical emergency. After entering the tree line, it collided with several trees as it continued moving west.
